Proton Confirms That They Have Received Over 20,000 Bookings For The X50 In Just Two Weeks
At this point, we should not be surprised at how much we Malaysians love shopping.
However, we are surprised that our love for shopping extends to cars as well - one that is pretty much still a mystery at the moment, as a matter of fact.
Huge numbers
Local automaker Proton on Saturday (3 October) revealed that they have received well over 20,000 bookings for their newly-announced SUV, the Proton X50.According to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Proton Edar, Roslan Abdullah, the number has "exceeded expectations".
“Proton would like to thank all its customers for the tremendous interest shown in the Proton X50. We are pushing to ensure fulfilment over the last three months of 2020, while continuing to emphasise product quality,” he said in a statement.
Proton opened their pre-order books for the X50 on 16 September for a fee of RM500.
The number of bookings is impressive for a couple of reasons.
For one, the Proton X50 has yet to be officially launched to the public, as it was only previewed to the media on 15 September - just about two weeks ago.
On top of that, Proton has also yet to announce the price of the X50, and they are not due to announce it for another couple of weeks.
So, in short, it means that Malaysians are already throwing money at Proton for a product that they have yet to see in person.
However, rumours are beginning to heat up that the carmaker is set to officially launch the Proton X50 within these few weeks.
And hopefully by then, Proton would let us know just how much we will need to pay for the Proton X50.
