An Australian family’s Christmas tree got an unexpected and unintentional décor this year.

The décor was a live koala!

No, we are not trying to pull your leg.

According to a report in The Guardian, the McCormicks family went out recently and Taylah, who was the last to leave the house, made sure that the back door was closed and the lights turned off.

Despite that, the family came back to a surprise.

The cutest visitor

It was such an unexpected thing that Taylah’s mother Amanda thought that the kids had placed a soft toy in the tree as part of a prank.

“We’ve had them in our trees before but not inside on our Christmas tree.

“It must have crawled in when the doors were open; it would have been in our house for at least three hours,” she said.

The McCormicks then called the Adelaide and Hills Koala Rescue, and they helped detangle the animal, which has been named Daphne.

The family even posted a video of Daphne on Tik Tok and netizens have been equally surprised with the koala’s presence.
