Ready your PCs, aspiring pro gamers!

Deny all you want, Malaysians; professional gaming is now officially a viable career choice.

These past couple of years, the eSports industry has grown leaps and bounds. So much so, Youth and Sports Minister Syed Saddiq recently vowed to turn Malaysia into an eSports powerhouse.

And now, we actually have a varsity course for aspiring professional gamers.

Our sentiments exactly.

One course we won’t be skipping!

Called the Alliance of Campus eSports (ACE), this programme aims to empower students and aspiring gamers via the power of eSports.

Launched by eGG Network with the support of the National Sports Council of Malaysia, ACE wants to help students become professional gamers by providing them with access and training so that they can get proper knowledge on how to become a professional athlete.

If you don’t feel like becoming a pro gamer, fret not; ACE will also help prepare you for a career in live streaming, team management and tournament organising.

If your dream job has anything to do with games, ACE will help you make it come true.

ACE also aims to provide students will a platform to display and hone their skills through on-ground events and – you guessed it! – eSports tournaments.

In the coming months, ACE will be organising a Mobile Legends: Bang Bang and a Dota 2 tournament for university teams.

On top of the combined RM38,000 prize pool, winners of the tournaments will also automatically secure a spot in the National eSports Selection later this year and stand a chance to represent the country in international eSports tournaments.

Now, all these won’t be possible without the support of everyone’s favourite fast food restaurant: KFC!

We know what you’re thinking; what does KFC have to do with ACE and eSports?

Plenty, our dear friends.

Fried chicken is bae.
You see, KFC is one of the major sponsors and supporter of ACE as they believe in empowering students to go after their dreams.

Also, think about it: KFC and university students are a match made in heaven.

With KFC’s brand-new Value Bowls, students who are too busy gaming (#relatable) can just eat while on the go without burning a hole in the pockets.
