This Ara Damansara Bookstore Lets You Pay Whatever You Want for Any Book
If you're someone who often buys novels, you might have noticed that a single book can cost no less than RM40—and sometimes even more if it’s a hardcover. While spending RM40 on a book might be reasonable for some, not everyone can afford that luxury.

Dokusho Bookstore was founded by a couple of second-hand bookstore enthusiasts.
Image Credit: Options, The EdgeIt all began when Ooi Jian Sheng and Sin Yi Wen realized there weren’t many second-hand bookstores in Malaysia. Their love for local and independent bookstores blossomed while they were studying in the United Kingdom.
Before opening a physical store, Dokusho Bookstore started as an online business. In an interview, the founders shared that it took them five years to finally open a brick-and-mortar shop.
Wondering what “Dokusho” means? It’s derived from a Japanese word that means “reading.”
In addition to already affordable prices, Dokusho Bookstore features a special section called “Pay-As-You-Wish.”

In fact, the money you pay goes directly toward supporting this local business.
All you have to do is pick a book from the special section, scan the QR code, and voilà—you’ve got yourself a new read to take home.
