From Delicious Food to a Super Comfy Stay — Here’s Why We Loved Our Time at Hyatt Centric City Centre Kuala Lumpur

hyatt

Returning to Hyatt Centric City Centre Kuala Lumpur felt familiar in the best way. Perfectly positioned in the heart of KL’s dynamic downtown, the hotel offers more than just convenience, it’s a gateway to the city’s pulse.

We were recently invited for a 2D1N stay to experience everything it has to offer, from its stylish, locally inspired design to its vibrant dining options. Here’s a closer look at what made our stay at the Hyatt Centric City Centre Kuala Lumpur so memorable.

Design & ambience: A stylish reflection of KL

The hotel’s aesthetic is a confident blend of industrial textures and Malaysian artistry, creating a space that feels both cosmopolitan and deeply rooted in local culture.

The lobby sets the tone with exposed concrete walls, brushed metal accents, and bold murals by Jefr, a celebrated local graffiti artist whose work injects KL’s street energy directly into the space.

Throughout the property, the atmosphere strikes a balance between relaxed and refined. Whether you’re lounging in the lobby, enjoying a meal at one of its restaurants, or heading up to the rooftop for panoramic views of the city skyline, there’s a sense of curated calm that makes the hotel feel like a sanctuary amid the hustle and bustle of Bukit Bintang.

Rooms: Elevated comfort

Our King Bed Corner Premium Room at Hyatt Centric City Centre Kuala Lumpur was a seamless blend of style and comfort. Floor-to-ceiling windows offered breathtaking, uninterrupted views of the KL skyline that brought the city’s energy right into the room, both day and night.

The bed was a standout: generously sized, incredibly plush, and perfect for sinking into after a day of exploring. It was the kind of comfort that makes you want to linger just a little longer.

The room layout was intuitive and spacious, with thoughtful touches like wireless charging pads, filtered water in reusable glass bottles, and a lounge area that added both convenience and charm.

The bathroom setup was equally impressive. A separate room housed the toilet for added privacy, while the main space featured a sleek bathtub and a rainfall shower with excellent water pressure.

Dining: Familiar favourites

Having previously reviewed TanBuri and IL Forno, I returned with high expectations and both venues delivered, again.

TanBuri

TanBuri’s concept—which fuses Indian tandoor techniques with Japanese donburi bowls, remains one of our favourite fusion culinary styles. I revisited the LambBuri (RM40), and it was just as bold and satisfying as I remembered: tender, smoky lamb layered over perfectly seasoned rice.

We also tried the Lamb Kebab Nanini (RM28), a clever twist on the panini that swaps bread for warm, fluffy naan. Stuffed with juicy lamb kebabs and paired with a garlic mayonnaise sauce, it was rich, comforting, and packed with flavour.

Meanwhile, the SalmonBuri (RM48) offered a lighter contrast with slices of salmon with a hint of char, served over rice and finished with a drizzle of creamy wasabi mayonnaise sauce that tied everything together.

To round off the meal, we sipped on a cup of Masala Chai (RM12), which was aromatic and perfectly spiced, a soothing finish that brought the whole experience full circle.

IL Forno: Elevated Italian delights

IL Forno remains a highlight of our stay. Chef Enzo Carbone’s menu is rooted in Italian tradition, but executed with finesse and a clear passion for quality ingredients.

We started with the Tagliere Misto di Antipasto e Formaggi for two (RM168), a generous board of cured meats, cheeses, and side dishes such as burrata salad, roasted vitello tonnato, tomato bruschetta, and beef bresaola that set the tone for a hearty, flavourful meal.

The Carpaccio di Ricciola (RM68)-thinly sliced yellowtail—was delicate and refreshing, dressed with lemon balm and a herb salad that let the fish shine.

The Lasagna al Forno (RM52) was everything you’d hope for in a classic, rich layers of pasta, meat, and béchamel baked to golden perfection. We also tried the Trofie Pesto alla Genovese (RM45), which delivered on texture and taste thanks to the handmade trofie pasta catching every bit of the vibrant basil pesto.

Of course, the Neapolitan pizza, made with 36-hour fermented dough, was as memorable as ever. This time we went for the Capricciosa (RM68) which was topped with artichokes, olives, and cheese, had a chewy, blistered crust and a balanced flavour profile that made it hard to share.

@21 Rooftop Bar: Skyline sips & city vibes

@21 Rooftop Bar isn’t just a rooftop bar, it’s an experience. Perched above the city, it offers sweeping views of Kuala Lumpur’s skyline and a vibe that effortlessly transitions from laid-back afternoons to lively, neon-lit evenings.

The drink menu is as vibrant as the setting. The Blue Hawaiian (RM50) was a tropical escape in a glass, bright, citrusy, and just the right amount of sweet. The Midori Sour (RM50) brought a refreshing kick with its melon-forward profile, balanced by a tangy finish that kept it from being overpowering. One of the standouts was the Vibe Check @21 (RM60), a signature cocktail that matched the bar’s energy: bold, playful, and surprisingly smooth.

Each drink felt thoughtfully crafted, complementing the bar’s stylish yet relaxed atmosphere.

With its mix of lounge seating and city views, @21 Rooftop Bar is the perfect spot to wind down after a day in KL or kick off a night out with friends.

Our verdict
