#MakeToddyCoolAgain

That murky milky-white foul-smelling liquid you find mixed with Guinness at a restaurant in the middle of the woods is called toddy. It is the sap that flows when a young flowering spathe of a coconut palm is cut. Tapping the palm tree requires a man to climb up to the top of the palm tree and then shaving a thin slice of the flowering spathe of the palm. The sap then comes pouring out and is cached in an earthen pot. A fresh pot of toddy contains an alcoholic content of 6.8%. According to this news clipping we were supposed to have bottled toddy by now, what happened?

There used to be licensed toddy shops in the cities near railways and now we only hear whispers of vendors selling toddy. Just in case you didn't already know, you can get toddy at Toddy Inn in Banting, and at Coconut Flower Seafood Restaurant at Teluk Gong, Klang. As a social experiment, we thought we'd try to bring the age old tradition of drinking good, cheap alcohol back. We decided to #MakeToddyCoolAgain by introducing toddy cocktails. To do that, we needed professionals and we found just the right people at The.Bngsr Tavern. Sam the mixologist prepared three very special cocktails and we tested them out with some of the patrons at The Tavern. Watch the video below and hear what they have to say:

We're on a mission guys, if you know any places for good Toddy, drop a comment below and we'll be sure to check it out. Similarly, if you've made some good cocktails using toddy, let us know. We'd love to try it.
