Now You See Mee, Now You Don't: Indomie’s Empty Plate Advertisements Win Over Netizens
There's a fine line when it comes to promoting food during the month of Ramadan.
Food companies have to toe the line when it comes to promoting their products, and at the same time, they would have to be sensitive to all our Muslim brothers and sisters who are fasting.
Popular instant noodles brand Indomie came up with the perfect solution for that dilemma.

Witty and creative

The Indonesian brand's witty daytime advertisements in the country has won praises for their creativity.
The ads feature nothing but empty plates.
In the advertisement clip, an actor is seen mimicking the actions of cooking up the popular instant noodles - minus the noodles.
“Your stomach may be empty, but we can still practise good deeds from home,” said the actor, referring to the lockdown imposed around the world to battle the COVID-19 pandemic.
In another brave move, the brand also removed all images of noodles on their packaging in conjunction with the fasting month!

Their brave moves kinda paid off, as netizens praise the brand's marketing team for being inventive and creative.
“This is silly, hilarious, and clever all at once,” said @tha_rami on Twitter.
“Imagine having a food brand so powerful that you don’t need to show your food and people will still buy your products,” wrote @snowlattes.
We have to say, that's some pretty clever marketing, Indomie.
