Investigations revealed that several of the victim’s family members also tested positive for the same virus.
“The Ministry of Health (MOH) has implemented preventive measures, including conducting medical checks on family members and monitoring the area to control the spread of the infection,” he said.
Third case involving children
This marks the third reported case involving children believed to have succumbed to Influenza A.
In a separate report by Malay Mail, one case involved a four-year-old boy in Sarawak who was rushed to the hospital following a seizure after developing a high fever. Despite medical efforts, the child passed away.
Preliminary investigations found the cause of death to be brain inflammation (encephalitis), which can be triggered by various viruses. Although the boy tested positive for Influenza A, the exact cause of death is still under investigation by the Sarawak State Health Department.
Meanwhile, another possible Influenza A-related fatality involved an 11-year-old boy in Dungun, Terengganu.

According to his mother, the boy, Muhammad Amsyar Farhan Mohd Noor, had shown signs of illness before being taken to a private clinic in Paka. He was later confirmed positive for Influenza A and was prescribed antiviral medication.
However, his condition worsened that same night, and he was pronounced dead at a hospital early on October 15.
