Earlier this afternoon, anyone who was nearby the Bukit Bintang area was shocked to see thick clouds of smoke gushing through the streets and buildings.

Those who witnessed the incident immediately shared pictures and videos of the incident via social media.

Apparently, a fire has broke out at Jalan Berangan off Jalan Cenderasari.

According to the New Straits Times, Joko Hotel was burned to the ground in a blaze around 1.40pm. No casualties were reported.

However, in a contradicting report, The Star reported that two restaurants at Jalan Nagasari were razed down instead.

City Fire and Rescue Department operations centre chief, Samsol Maarif Saibani confirmed the incident.

The fire department received a distress call at 1.46pm and arrived 13 minutes later. The raging blaze was reportedly completely put out by 3.13pm.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
