The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a thunderstorm warning until 7 PM today.
According to MetMalaysia, the affected areas are Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Sarawak, and Sabah.

“Among the areas involved are Kuala Krai in Kelantan, while in Terengganu, only Hulu Terengganu is affected by the severe weather."
They added, “In addition, warnings have also been issued for Jerantut and Maran in Pahang, as well as the entire state of Selangor, including Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya."
“Continuous rain is also occurring in Negeri Sembilan, specifically in Seremban and Port Dickson,” they shared.
For Sarawak, Kuching, Serian, Samarahan, Betong (Pusa and Betong), Sarikei (Meradong), Sibu, Mukah, and Limbang are also affected.
In Sabah, the affected areas are the West Coast (Putatan, Penampang, Kota Kinabalu, Tuaran, Ranau, and Kota Belud), Sandakan (Telupid, Kinabatangan, Beluran, and Sandakan), and Kudat.
Previously, MetMalaysia sounded the alarm for an incoming monsoon surge expected between 25 and 29 December, which could trigger prolonged rainfall across the eastern coast of Peninsular Malaysia.

Alongside persistent downpours, the surge is likely to whip up strong winds and generate hazardous sea conditions in the South China Sea throughout the same period.
