M’sian Entrepreneur Sparks Debate After Calling Her Outfit Worth RM148K ‘Simple’

Remember when a Malaysian woman threw her cat a lavish party at Louis Vuitton and showered it with lavish presents, including an RM1.5K leather collar? Well, the woman in question, Haliza Maysuri, the founder of local brand Bawal Exclusive, which sells tudung bawals (a type of headscarf) and shawls, has gone viral again for her ‘simple’ outfit—an outfit worth a total of RM148,150, no less. 

The entrepreneur cum influencer who has 354K followers on TikTok and 9.5 million likes is known for her lavish lifestyle, even calling her cat ‘Money.’ In a recent TikTok video, her caption read, “If you want to buy something without looking at the price, you should be able to focus on your work without looking at the time.”

In the video, she was seen walking around a lavish hotel in a black outfit, with the words on the video saying, “Attending the dinner of Almaas haji (pilgrimage to Mecca) package worth RM250k. I’m just wearing something simple: bag RM56,800, shoes RM4950, headscarf RM6,400, and watch RM80,000.” The total of her ‘simple’ outfit is ironically worth more than a Honda HR-V, which starts at RM115,900. 

Comments from netizens were mixed, although most were sarcastic. “Ya Allah you’re so humble I want to cry,” said one. “Haven’t seen Elon Musk share the price of his outfit before said another.” One wrote, “Show me the receipts and price tag then I’ll believe you.”

“I don’t know why. I don’t feel that she’s showing off at all. On the contrary, this is my inspiration. May God give me the ability to accomplish this one day,” said a supportive netizen. “We support successful Malays,” said another.
