M'sian Landlord Shocked as Tenant Sells RM1K Dining Table Set for Cheaper Furniture Just to Hang Towels

For one landlord, that is exactly the problem she had faced after a tenant had sold her dining table set without permission. To make things worse, they had sold the original dining table set for 70% less than the original price.

In a TikTok video, the landlord shared the look of the original dining table set. According to her, the tenant decided to sell the furniture as they wanted a more ‘minimalist’ look.

They also admitted that they were looking for a dining table set that comes with chairs that allows them to hang their towels.

“I allowed them to rent my house, but they had sold my dining table set without permission because they wanted a more minimalist design. I bought the original set for RM1,000, but they had sold it for only RM300!”

The landlord also shared that when confronted, the tenant simply said they had ‘forgotten’ to inform the landlord beforehand.

Needless to say, the landlord was extremely disappointed with the tenant's action, so she decided to deduct RM700 from the deposit. If you think that's the end of the case, well, the tenant decided to ask for a discount and asked the landlord to only deduct RM500 from the deposit.

The landlord, obviously, refused to give the discount. It is also understood that this month will be the tenant’s last month renting at the residence.

The video has since garnered much attention from the members of the public. While many condemned the tenant's action, others were praising the landlord for staying firm in deducting their deposit.

Another commented, “I think it's better if you go and check the house a day before the tenant leaves, in case there are other items that have also mysteriously disappeared.”
