As numbers of confirmed novel coronavirus cases rise steadily, people in China and other parts of the world are resorting to creative measures to protect themselves.
Pictures of people wearing water bottles over their heads have been surfacing online.
In other news, someone wore a bottle on their head in BC yesterday to protect themselves from Wuhan virus.

今天见了几个武汉当地的市民朋友,他们带我去了金银潭医院,只是在外面跟医生聊了聊,没办法深入医院。但是武汉人的乐观和坚定真的是震撼到了我!他们勇敢、自信、热爱生活、苦中作乐~ pic.twitter.com/dsuQ8YkwaE"This is how they protect themselves from the large-scale outbreak of Wuhan coronavirus in mainland China... 5 litres water bottle..." - u/MaxwellMattW on Reddit

Seems they are travelling for an extremely important reason. Don't touch outside the personal protective equipments (mask, goggles, gloves, apron, clothes, etc.) even when you remove them, assume it is contaminated. Avoid unnecessary travelling and gethering #coronavirus pic.twitter.com/KrDKIUjhm8

Medical supplies unable to meet needs
While it may look comical, the unconventional measures taken are an indication of how desperate people are to protect themselves and their families from the deadly virus.
It has been reported that many areas, especially those closest to Wuhan, China, are in dire need for protective supplies including masks, protective suits and disinfectant.
According to the World Health Organisation (WHO) a total of 6,065 cases of coronavirus have been confirmed worldwide as of Jan 29, 2020.
A total of 132 people have died from the virus.
Our only hope now is that the situation improves in the coming days.
Please stay safe everyone. For recommendations and advice on self protection against the virus, head to WHO.
