Are you looking forward to go back to your hometowns for the Hari Raya Aidilfitri holidays via public transport?

If yes, you should have gotten your hands on the required travel tickets by now.

If you haven’t bought your tickets yet, you better move fast before it is too late.

This is because public transport tickets for the festive season are selling fast, with some travel dates already fully booked, reported The Star.

The report quoted Peninsular Malaysia Express Bus Operators Association (Pembawa) president Laili Ismail as saying that said tickets from April 28 until May 1 have been fully booked and only a few seats are left for May 2.

“We prepared about 300,000 tickets, but so far we have only a few tickets left for those who wish to travel back to their hometowns on May 2.

“Tickets to every destination in the peninsula from April 28 until May 1 are fully booked,” he was quoted as saying adding that they will increase the number of buses nationwide to meet the demand.

Meanwhile, AirAsia Malaysia chief executive officer Riad Asmat said ticket sales increased 20 per cent on April 1 for domestic and international destinations and that the airline is expected to fly 75,000 passengers across Kuala Lumpur, Kuching, Kota Kinabalu, Penang and Johor Baru.

Additionally, Malindo Air public relations and government affairs director Raja Sa’adi Raja Amrin urged the public to book their flight tickets early and to avoid the last-minute rush.

He added that tickets for some destinations like Kota Baru, Langkawi and Kuching are selling fast.

On the rail front, KTMB chief operating officer Mohd Zain Mat Taha was quoted in the report as saying that almost 40 per ETS and KTM Intercity tickets had been sold between April 23 and May 8.

“Tickets from April 29 until May 1 from KL Sentral to Padang Besar have been sold out. KTMB will consider providing additional trains to cater to the demand.”
