Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim stated that, in addition to expanding SARA products to include frozen food, the programme will also increase the number of participating grocery stores to 10,000.
“The involvement of grocery stores has also been increased to 10,000 by the end of the year, while the programme’s accessibility will be improved by reducing the maximum distance to participating SARA outlets to within 7 km, compared to 10 km currently,” he said, as reported by The Star.
The SARA aid is expected to benefit about 22 million Malaysians. Anwar also expressed hope that the assistance would be used wisely, especially with the upcoming Chinese New Year and the holy month of Ramadan.
