It's incredibly irritating to see people puffing away or drinking in a group at playgrounds and parks.

Why? Cause its a play + ground. A ground meant for children to play and parks are supposed to be a place where we enjoy nature!

Smoking, vaping and drinking at parks and playgrounds however is so common in Malaysia that most people who do it don't think twice about how it may inconvenience others around them.

Understanding the issue, the Selangor government recently made an announcement that makes us here at Rojak Daily want to stand up, cheer and clap.

You shall not smoke, vape and drink

The state government announced a ban on smoking, vaping and drinking at all playgrounds and recreational parks here with immediate effect!

According to Bernama, Selangor is the first state in the country to make official such a ban.

It was put in force following approved amendments to the Selangor Local Councils Park Bylaw 2005.

No more smoke to worry about.

State Local Government, Public Transport and New Village Development Committee chairman Ng Sze Han said that drinking smoking and vaping had been added to the list of offences under the bylaw.

"Previously, the list did not include drinking and smoking as a prohibited activity," he said.

So you guys, just be warned ya.

Officials from the Selangor government will be monitoring these areas and those caught flouting the ban will be fined RM1,000.
