Selangor Govt Considering Proposal to Ban Sale of Vapes in the State
The Selangor government is prepared to study the need to ban the sale of electronic cigarettes or vape in the state. This came following the suggestion made by the police.

It is reported that Deputy Inspector General of Police Datuk Seri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said state governments in Malaysia could take action to ban vape sales, which are increasingly associated with the abuse of new synthetic drugs.
Meanwhile, Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said the matter would be discussed with State Public Health and Environment Committee chairman Jamaliah Jamaludin and the State Health Department before any decision is made.

“The matter depends on federal regulations. We can implement it, but I believe it needs to be discussed with the relevant parties first. If necessary, we will proceed,” he said.
In other related news, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Primary Care Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Malaya, Professor Madya Dr Nur Amani Natasha Ahmad Tajuddin said many youngsters started using vapes as they're easier to buy and are deemed ‘not as dangerous’.
“In the context of public health, the ban of vape sales is to protect the youngsters and control this habit that could potentially be more dangerous than normal cigarettes,” she said, as reported in Harian Metro.
