Taiwanese Man Dies After Falling Onto LRT Tracks at Pusat Bandar Puchong Station
If you took the LRT Sri Petaling/Ampang line yesterday, you might have noticed some disruptions at the Bandar Puteri, Pusat Bandar Puchong, and IOI Puchong Jaya stations.
In case you’re unaware of what caused the disruption, it was reported that a Taiwanese national is believed to have fallen onto the LRT tracks and was subsequently run over by a train.

According to a statement by Rapid KL, the incident was reported at 5:54 pm. The case has been classified as a sudden death, and the victim’s remains were transported to Serdang Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
Rapid KL also stated that they are fully cooperating with the authorities and coordinating with the Taiwanese embassy to support the victim’s next of kin.
As of now, the cause of the incident and the victim’s identity have yet to be determined.
Train services at the affected stations reportedly resumed operations at 8:52 pm on the same night. A somewhat similar incident had occurred previously at the same station and at another LRT station.

In February this year, a visually impaired man tragically suffered the same fate after falling onto the railway tracks and being fatally struck by a train at the Titiwangsa LRT station.
Eerily, the incident at the Pusat Bandar Puchong LRT station yesterday wasn’t the first of its kind. Back in 2018, a man reportedly lost his life after descending onto the tracks and being hit by an oncoming train.
Netizens have urged authorities to install safety barriers to prevent more such incidents in the future:
“What’s the solution then, Rapid KL? You should install a barrier gate/auto gate system. How many victims must suffer the same fate before you take action? MRT has this gate system—why hasn’t it been installed on the Ampang and Kelana Jaya LRT lines?”

“Auxiliary police should be available at all stations.”
