How many of you remember playing with Lego when you were little? Did you actually build something out of the colourful bricks? Or better yet, do you still do it now?

These young students from Penang put their love for Lego to good use by becoming the first Malaysian team to win bronze in an international Lego robots competition.

They came just behind the United States and China!

The team named Nemesis-X Assassins, which consists of members aged between 10 and 17 years old, successfully beat 108 teams from 56 countries to bag third place in the For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology (FIRST) Lego League World Festival.

The team was in George Town, Penang to demonstrate how the function of their robots.
The competition was held in Houston, Texas in the United States on 19 to 21 April, where the students competed with a host of robots that they had created for the 'Robot Games' segment.

They made motorised robots using Lego bricks that completed 18 hydro dynamics missions to transport, use and dispose of water within two and a half minutes.

Head coach Ng Lee Chuang told The Star that her team had spent nine months planning their robot designs.

"This is indeed an extremely proud and glorious moment for us as it is hard to finish among the top three in the world," robotics handler Tam Li Yen said.

What an achievement from our young Malaysians!
