Have you gotten vaccinated against COVID-19 yet?

If you got the Pfizer vaccine, you may need a third shot after completing the second dose.

This was revealed by Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla in a CNBC interview, cited by a report by AFP.

Bourla said people will "likely" need a third dose of the vaccine within a year of being fully vaccinated.

Yearly vaccinations a possibility too

A third vaccine soon?

Annual vaccinations may also be required to be fully protected against the virus.

"We need to see what would be the sequence, and for how often we need to do that, that remains to be seen.

"A likely scenario is that there will be likely a need for a third dose, somewhere between six and 12 months and then from there, there will be an annual revaccination, but all of that needs to be confirmed.

"It is extremely important to suppress the pool of people that can be susceptible to the virus," he said in the interview.

The company recently announced that it was testing a third dose of the vaccine to combat emerging variants.

To date, researchers are unsure of the vaccine protection period against the coronavirus.

It's all just a waiting game now.
