Squid Game Season 2 Release Date Announced, Season 3 Confirmed For 2025 as the Finale
If you’re a fan of one of the most popular Korean series ever, Squid Game, you’ll know that Season 2 is on the way. Director, Writer, and Executive Producer Hwang Dong Hyuk has now excitingly announced that the series will return on 26 December as the perfect Christmas present for this year!

The official X page for Squid Game posted, “Attention all players: we’re here to deliver an important message” with a letter from Hwang. “It’s been almost three years since Season 1 was met with incredible response around the world, and many unimaginable events took place. I am beyond excited to be writing this letter to announce the date for Season 2 and share the news of Season 3, the final season.”
“Seong Gi-hun, who vowed revenge at the end of Season 1, returns and joins the game again. Will he succeed in getting his revenge? Front Man doesn’t seem to be an easy opponent this time, either. The fierce clash between their two worlds will continue into the series finale with Season 3, which will be brought to you next year.”
Another teaser trailer was also shared, with players seen running on a track and dropping one by one like flies with the show’s signature haunting music in the background. The Front Man watches over them while saying, “It’s been three years. Do you want to play again?”. An ominous statement, “The real game begins”, also flashes onscreen. Yong Hee, the creepy animatronic killer doll who was featured most prominently during ‘Red Light, Green Light,” is also seen in the trailer.

A new still also showed Seong Gi Hun, the only surviving contestant from Season 1, wearing the trademark green tracksuit worn by the Squid Game contestants. This makes us wonder how he will end up participating in the games again.
You can also see the first teaser trailer and see the first stills from Season 2.
Last year, the final cast was already announced, including the return of Lee Jung Jae, Lee Byung Hun, and Gong Yoo, along with newcomers such as former BigBang member T.O.P, Im Si Wan, and Kang Ha Neul.
