We can all agree that the COVID-19 pandemic has affected millions of people in many ways.

From lost of income to the loss of loved ones who succumbed to the deadly virus, it’s definitely trying times for everyone.

And for Hong Kong actress Kate Yeung, she’s been hit badly too.

From walking red carpets to manning universities

According to The Straits Times, the 36-year-old actress is currently working as a university security guard to make ends meet.

In an interview with Hong Kong tabloid Apple Daily, the Yeung revealed that she had taken on the full-time role for a year, due to scarce acting jobs during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Even before that, she had been doing part-time work as a florist and waitress and has not been seen in public over the past year.

"I'm really grateful for this past year," she said. "Because I entered this industry at the age of 16, I actually don't know much about the world outside of acting,” Kate said.

The Golden Horse-nominated actress added that working in various fields gave her valueable experience.

"A good actor requires experience, so I have always had the idea to try working in different industries for the experience. But my capabilities and my time were limited, as I have only one body."

However, there is a light at the end of the tunnel for Katie’s journey as she will be leaving her job at the end of June for a new acting project.

Fans can expect to see her in action soon.
