We all know what a dedicated and hardworking actor Jackie Chan is, especially when he insists of doing his own stunts despite his age.

However, sometimes, things can get a little out of hand and risky despite having a strong security team.

Recently, Chan got into a stunt that nearly cost him his life.

Trapped underwater

Chan put his life on the line for his new movie.
According to a report by The Straits Times, which quoted Chinese website China.org.cn, the horrific incident happened when he was filing a scene for his upcoming thriller 'Vanguard'.

During the shoot out at sea, the 65-year-old actor reportedly found himself trapped under a rock while performing a stunt.

He tried to free himself but was unable to do so, and as such, he faced the risk of drowning.

However, instead of panicking, Chan told the news portal during a press conference in Beijing recently that he willed himself to stay calm no matter what.

Luckily, the film crew acted quickly to save Chan.

The film's director, Stanley Tong, revealed that he "could not control my tears" when he saw Chan emerge from the water.

We almost lost a treasure :(
Chan revealed that it was only when he took a shower later that night that he was overwhelmed by the events of that afternoon.

"I suddenly felt really scared and my body started shaking. I could have so easily died," he was quoted as saying.

Chan is no stranger to facing life-and-death situations while filming, as he has suffered scares on film sets during his career, which includes getting nasty knocks when leaping from one building to another or hanging from a helicopter.

'Vanguard' is set to be released in cinemas on 25 January 2020, in conjunction with Chinese New Year.
