Barbie Is Releasing Dolls With Physical Disabilities This June

We’ve already seen the dolls in different colours and styles with various themes.

This year, Mattel is giving Barbie a new look that could help tackle the stigma surrounding physical disabilities and promote inclusivity.

According to CNN, we will be greeted with a doll with a prosthetic leg and another in a wheelchair as part of Barbie's new Fashionistas line.

There is no one definition when it comes to beauty and Mattel hopes to open kids to more diverse representations.

"As a brand, we can elevate the conversation around physical disabilities by including them into our fashion doll line to further showcase a multi-dimensional view of beauty and fashion," Mattel said in a statement.

This line also has Barbie DreamHouse that is wheelchair-compatible in the works.

Needless to say, this upcoming line is widely celebrate among disability rights activists.

Thirteen-year-old Jordan Reeves, a disability activist who was born without a left forearm, helped create the doll with the prosthetic limb with Mattel.

The wheelchair, which turned out to be one of Barbie fans' the most request accesories, was designed with the help of the UCLA Mattel Children's Hospital and wheelchair experts.

There is nothing wrong with people who have physical disabilities and the toymaker is already doing a good job to create this conversation.

Besides that, the 2019 Fashionistas line will also include Barbie dolls in various looks, such as braided hair texture as well as more realistic body types, like a smaller bust, not-so-tiny waist and more defined arms.

Now that's something many people have been questioning over the years because no real human looks like Barbie!
