Music is something we all enjoy at random times of the day or night. Whether you prefer listening to metal at 2am or K-pop while commuting to work, music is an essential part of life, regardless of how fast your mobile data is or what phone you're using.

So if you're one of those who run out of data often while on the go, Spotify Lite may just be the music app for you.

Spotify Lite is a small, fast and simplified version of Spotify that works much like the main app. You can search and play your favourite songs and artists, save, share, discover new music and enjoy personalised playlists.

It is pretty much everything you're used to in Spotify but with a few extra features that make it ideal for older devices and operating systems.

"Spotify Lite was built from the ground up based on user feedback from around the world, allowing millions more to enjoy the world’s best music experience -- especially in areas with limited bandwidth and phone storage”, Spotify Senior Product Manager Kalle Persson said.

You can download Spotify Lite as a separate app and it is available for both Free and Spotify Premium users.

With Spotify Lite, controlling your phone data and storage is a lot easier because the app is only 10MB in size, making it quick to install and load while offering the same great listening experience that lets you discover, play and enjoy millions of songs.

Besides that, there is an option for you to set a data limit within the app that notifies you when you reach it. This will help you monitor your data usage better, while you focus on finding your next favourite tune.

Also, you won't have to worry if you ever run low on storage on your phone because Spotify Lite allows you to control your cache and clear it with a single tap.

Here's a quick introduction to Spotify Lite:

The app is now available on Google Play store in 36 markets, including Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines and Vietnam.

Unfortunately, Spotify Lite is only available for Android users with devices running on 4.3 Jelly Bean or higher. More features will be coming soon, so stay tuned for more updates.
