All The Way To The Top: Malaysian Student Is 'Top In The World' For Chemistry
We really don't need to remind you just how talented we Malaysians are.
We've seen many Malaysian students winning awards for their academic achievements, and now, we can add another name to that list.

Standing all the way at the top

She's going to do great things. A Malaysian student has emerged as the best in the world in the subject of chemistry recently.
The Star Online reported that the honour belongs to Cheryl Chow Shu Wei, who received the 'Top In The World' award for the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) examinations in Chemistry.
The 17-year-old, who studies at the Beaconhouse Sri Inai International School, received the highest standard mark in the subject.
According to a press statement released by the school and quoted by the news portal, Chow edged out close to one million students from around the world to earn the prestigious award presented by the Cambridge Assessment International Education.
Chow said in the press statement that she's never dreamt of becoming the best in the world in any subject.
“I am ecstatic to receive this prestigious global recognition. This past year has been extremely difficult with the COVID-19 pandemic and learning from home.
“So, I’m even more proud of my accomplishment. Of course, none of this could have been possible without the help of my parents, teachers and peers who motivated and encouraged me to never give up and always try my best, ” she was quoted as saying.
This was not the only prestigious award that Chow has won at such an early age.
In 2019, she beat 14,240 students from China, Japan, Singapore and Korea to win the prestigious Mangahigh East Asia Maths Ninja Challenge 2019.
On top of that, Chow also brought home the gold medal in the national level Kangaroo Math Competition, as well as being the top achiever in the 2019 The University of St Andrews Maths Competition.
She was also awarded the gold award in the Queen’s Commonwealth Essay Competition in two consecutive years, 2019 and 2020.
Wow, the future is definitely really bright for her. All the best, Cheryl Chow Shu Wei! We have a feeling that you'll continue to make us proud.
