Have kids who are obsessed with playing online games?

Perhaps, you should consider China’s three-hour rule.

If you haven’t heard already, China is banning children from playing online games for more than three hours a week.

According to a report by AP/Reuters, those under the age 18 will only be allowed to play games between 8 pm and 9 pm, that too on Fridays, weekends and on public holidays!

Gaming companies may pay the price

The report, citing a notice from the National Press and Publication Administration, said the rule will be effective this Thursday (September 2).

The report also quoted China's Xinhua news agency as saying that the move was in response to escalating cases of gaming addiction.

With the implementation of this rule, online gaming companies will also be prohibited from offering gaming services to children outside the stipulated hours.

The companies will also have to install a real-name verification system to support the rule.

The National Press and Publication Administration also told Xinhua it planned to increase the frequency and intensity of inspections for online gaming companies.

This is not the first time such stringent rules were put into place.

In a rule put into place in 2019, children in China were only allowed a gaming time of an hour and a half per day and three hours on public holidays.

What would Malaysian children do if such a rule is implemented here?
