Malaysia has been getting all the right attention when it comes to healthcare recently.

Our country has been praised many times for our initial response and follow-up measures relating to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Now, it looks like we've done it again.

This time, however, it has got nothing to do with the pandemic but with stroke care.

Awarded for having world standard care.

Five Malaysian hospitals were recognised by the World Stroke Organisation (WSO) for achieving international standards relating to stroke care.

First class treatment

According to a report by Malay Mail, the award called the WSO Angels Award is given to hospitals that have world standard stroke care based on the quality of the treatment and how fast they treat it.

The hospitals that received the awards are Hospital Tuanku Jaafar in Seremban (Gold), Hospital Seberang Jaya (Gold), Sarawak General Hospital (Gold and Diamond), Regency Specialist Hospital (Gold) and Pantai Hospital Penang (Diamond).

Pantai Hospital Penang also broke the record as the first hospital in Malaysia to receive the diamond award two years in a row.

“The WSO Angels Award is just the icing on the cake, for us to recognise the hospitals that go above and beyond in their stroke care,” said MCS president associate Professor Dr Hoo Fan Kee.
