The Ministry of Finance (MoF) has refuted claims that Malaysians can apply to increase their RON95 petrol quota under BUDI95.
In a statement, the ministry said that the function to apply for additional quotas on the BUDI95 website, as claimed, was previously available during the early stages of the programme’s implementation. However, the application process was only intended for specific cases and not for personal use.

“It was meant for specific cases with clear and verified operational requirements, such as e-hailing drivers and boat owners, subject to established criteria."
“This was misinterpreted as a platform to freely request an increase in eligibility limits. As a result, the application button has been disabled.”
The government also reiterated that the 200-litre-per-month quota remains in force, adding that it will continue to strengthen enforcement to ensure a stable fuel supply.

Previously, it was reported that starting in April, the Malaysian government reduced the BUDI95 subsidy quota to 200 litres per month. The move aims to ease the national burden caused by surging global oil prices following the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
The decision was made after taking into account that approximately 90% of Malaysians use an average of only 100 litres of fuel per month.
