It is understood that the crash involved a three-tonne lorry carrying scrap items, a Nissan X-Trail four-wheel drive belonging to the Public Works Department (JKR), a Honda City, and a Proton X70.

“When we arrived at the scene, we found the toddler and a man trapped under the Nissan X-Trail. We managed to extricate them, but the toddler was pronounced dead at the scene."

The man survived and was sent to the hospital for treatment along with the other seven injured victims,” he said.

Parents had waited 10 years for the deceased toddler

In a heartbreaking twist, it was revealed that the one-year-old who died in the crash was one of a pair of twins whose parents had waited 10 years for.

At the time of the accident, the father, Amirul Ridzuan, was not with his family as he was working in Kedah. He was only informed of the incident after someone else answered his wife's phone.
