“These are not AI-generated photos, nor were they taken elsewhere. This is in Bandar Utama, Damansara.

"To ensure the school compound is safe, teachers at SMK Bandar Utama 4, where the tragic incident occurred, have used metal detectors as part of spot-checks on students as they arrive at school. This is to ensure none of them are carrying prohibited items,” the caption read.

The man who posted the photos also urged society to play a more active role in creating a safer environment for students.

“To parents, always talk to your children and ask how their day was at school. They need our attention during this phase of life.

He added, "As for society, we must start by caring for our children, and then extend that care to their friends. This is the role we should play. Get to know them. Build bonds with them, just like in the old days when our parents knew our friends’ parents.”

Netizens are divided

The post has since gained traction on social media. While some applauded the school’s efforts, others felt it added more burden to teachers and suggested more efficient ways to ensure student safety.

“They should install a gate metal detector. If it beeps, then only the teachers should pull the student aside and check their bags — like at the airport. It’s more efficient.”

Another commented, “Parents should check their children’s bags every morning before school. Make it a habit.”
