Sorry Guys, Mount Fuji Will Be Closed To Climbers This Year
Thinking of visiting Japan’s Mount Fuji right after the whole pandemic blows over?
Well, brace yourself for some disappointing news.
Stay grounded, please
The popular mountain will be closed during this year’s summer climbing season to prevent the spread of COVID-19.AFP reported that the Shizuoka prefecture, home to the country’s tallest mountain, announced they were closing three of the four major routes to the mountain’s peak.
“The routes open in summer but this year we will keep them closed from 10 July to 10 September,” a Shizuoka prefecture official told the news agency.
This will be the first time the trails of the 3,776-metre mountain are closed to the public since 1960.
The decision to close the other trails was made after nearby Yamanashi prefecture said it will close the Yoshida trail, which happens to be the most popular hiking path among the four.
Looks like you guys have to wait for a while until you can tick Mount Fuji off your bucket list!
