Our para athletes are amazing and our shuttlers specifically, have been making waves internationally.

Recently, the team of para shuttlers won three gold and one silver during the Fazza-Dubai Para Badminton International tournament on 4 April.

Medals galore

According to Bernama, six-time men's singles world champion Cheah Liek Hou won gold during the SU5 (standing/upper limb impairment) category, beating Dheva Anrimusthi from Indonesia.

The grueling match (14-21, 22-20, 21-18) lasted over an hour.

The second gold was clinched during the men's singles WH1 (wheelchair) category by national player Muhammad Ikhwan Ramli who beat David Toupe from France (23-21, 21-3) for the win.

The third gold medal was won by Noor Azwan Noorlan who beat Germany's Rick Cornell Hellman to win the men's singles WH2 (wheelchair) category (18-21, 21-18, 21-12).

While he didn't win the top spot, para-athlete, Didin Taresoh also made the country proud by bagging placed second in the combined SH6 (standing/ short stature) after losing to Nagar Krishna from India (17-21, 18-21).
